    Default Rigid Frame

I'm very new to Revit and I'm experimenting with creating families. I can get the side columns to stretch to the correct locations and heights, but the ridge is acting up. When I edit the type properties, I can see that my paramaters are changing in the preview window, but the vertices remain where they were drawn. It's like they are not connected with the sloped reference plane. What am I doing wrong?

It looks like your extrusion lines are not constrained to the ref planes for the slope as well as the sweep's path sketch lines. You need to edit the extrusion and use the align tool to allign the extrusion lines to the ref planes, then lock them when the lock icon comes up. This will align the top lines, but then you need a way to set the angle on the bottom.

See if this gets you nudged in the right direction. If not, let me know I'll nudge a little further.

Is there any way to lock the intersection between the angled plane and the horizontal plane at the ridge?

If you use reference lines, rather than reference planes for the angle reference setout, you'll be able to align and lock the end points of the reference line to your other reference planes, it will flex a lot smother when you adjust the width, height or angles.

I'm still having difficulties. I've tried locking sketches to planes, but the angles are still messed up. Now I'm getting messages saying it is impossible to create the frame if I try to change the variables very much.

    Hi h.jobe,
Sorry, i should've been more specific, i'd only meant to use reference lines for referencing planes on angles.
as the ref lines have end points, you can align and lock the end points to regular reference planes. allowing the width height to move, and the ref line start point will move with it.

anyway, Have messed around with the family, and it seems to be flexing ok, without breaking. (i haven't tested it in a project though)
    good luck.
