    Default Multiple Versions

The company i work for has just phased out 2004/2005 autodesk products. We currently have 2007 to 2010 implemented (including autocad, raster, map, civil3d, revit, ldd, etc.)
We have been running into more than the usual bugs, performance, and install/deployment issues with all our current versions. some issues get resolved while others have not been encountered by others in the forums and subscription help can't replicate the issues.

Our IT department says that we should only have one version installed on our machine and that is the reason for all our problems. I'm not convinced that they are right as i get the feeling they are just completely frustrated with all the problems.

Because of project constraints, many of us are still dependent on multiple versions to meet client needs.

I'd like to hear other people's thoughts on running multiple versions on the same machine.

Where i work, it's not uncommon to find machines with AutoCAD 2008, Revit 2008, Revit 2009, Revit 2010, DWG Trueview, Design Review, Navisworks all installed on them.

What sort of problems are you getting?

AFAIK the only versions that can not co-exist are 2000,2000i, 2002 and their verticals.

I agree with the last two posts. I run just about every version of every product we have on one machine since I have to troubleshoot often, and I don't have any out of the ordinary problems.

Design Review 2011 will not work with other versions. If you have Design Review 2011 and then install a product that has an older version of Design Review this will break the Design Review 2011 install.

Also note that you should always install in release date order. If you already have 2010 installed, you should repair install 2010 after installing an older version such as 2008. It is usually far better to install in order to begin with. And even far better to reduce the version madness.

I've been replacing the Design Review install files in our older network deployments to have the latest versions of it so i don't need to worry about it.

But I doubt the OP is doing that.

There are issues installing 32-bit and 64-bit Autodesk products side-by-side.

The problems can result in .NET failing to work for some verticals. For example, you may lose the ability to run .NET reports in 32-bit Civil 3D if you have a 64-bit Autodesk product installed on the same machine.

This problem only appears to affect 32-bit programs, so (for example) it is no longer a problem with Civil 3D 2011.
