Question NURBS to Conceptual Mass Help

Hi everyone. I want to create a nurbs roof in maya and import it to a conceptual mass family. However, i want to be able to apply a pattern based curtain panel system to it. Example from this video (http://designreform.net/2009/04/revi...ased-hexagons/).

When i import a nurbs model into revit as a dwg there is no element type drop down options available to be able to apply the pattern to it.

The end result i want is to make a organic roof shape with a curtain system and apply the pattern based panel.

    Thanks!

Are you tab-selecting to highlight the face to want the pattern applied to? If you just pick the object, you wont have the surface option. If you tab-select a face, the you should have the surface option. As an example, I built a nurbs surface in AutoCAD (i don't have Maya installed, sorry!) and imported it as a dwg into Revit. The attached screen shot is with a surface applied in Revit.

Wow, i spent hours trying to mess with that and all i had to do was tab....

I guess my next question is once i get it into a project is there anyway to make it function as a roof so that i can attach walls to it?

    Thanks for your help Scott!

Yes, go to the Roof tool, and pick the Roof by Face option from the drop down in the Roof tool. Then pick your roof type in the Type Selector, and pick the face of the surface you want a roof on. Revit will "glue" a roof to the surface. You can then place walls below and attach them to the freeform roof.
