Default Rotation in a View Title family

I am hoping to tie a north arrow into my View Title, such that I can just edit a type parameter and have a consistent north on every plan view. The approach I had thought to use was a nested North Arrow, and a couple of Ref Lines to manage the rotation. However, whenever I change my angle, my Constraints blow up. Now the thing that worries me is that, while I verified that the north arrow really uses the center of the circle as the origin, as you can see in the screen capture, when you select it the bottom gets the move grip, which I think is by default at the origin.
Which makes me start wondering if this is one of those situations where there is a ghost in the machine and this just ain't gonna work? Anyone had any experience getting something like the to behave nicely?

    Thanks!

    Gordon.

I´d make the North Arrow, with a rotating parameter, and nest/link that parameter to the View Title family... Actually... Just have a look at the attached:

(A Revit family speaks more than a thousand words... right ?)

We did something similar. It did not appear that we could make shared parameters in the view title family, however. So to change the North arrow orientation we edit the North Arrow family from the Tree View in the Project Browser. We also added a type to the family that fixed the North Arrow straight up for the Site Plan.

Indeed it does! The second ref line locked to a right angle from the first was the missing part in my internally rotating approach. That and I figured it is usually easier to rotate a single nested object rather than the component pieces. Usually, but not this time.

    Thanks! for sure.

I may be wrong as I'm a Revit noob but I don't believe that a .rfa file can be saved to an earlier version. At least I can't figure out how to do it.

Revit has NEVER had the ability to save down to an earlier version, even before Autodesk bought it it could not save down.
