is there a way to end a gutter like in real life you have a flat part at the end so all the water is contained in the guttter. how about adding down spouts (where the water comes down from the guttter to the groud? can you change colors of the gutter/ down spouts?

Not with the build in Gutter tool... But you have two other options.

1. Use the build in Gutter tool, and manually apply a family for the ends.

2. Build a Custom line based Gutter family, including the gutter, ends, and hangers...
(I actually did this on one occasion, where I needed detailed renderings... see the attachement)

I have not tried it, but can you change the gutter profile to a closed solid? I think that will make it have closed ends and in your section you can make the top line either light as if it is a gutter strap or make it invisible.

You could do this... you just won't be able to see your DS locations in your roof plan unless you make them stick up through the top surface of your gutter solid.

With the normal gutter profiles, I just have the DS stick through the bottom slightly, which makes them visible in my roof plan if my view range is set correctly.

There are pros and cons to every different method, I think. If you do a custom line-based family, I don't think you can make it miter around corners, which is a big turn-off for me.

Right, you can´t mitter a line based family, but if/when needed, it would be pretty easy to build another family, using sweeps instead... mittering is not the problem, the complexity of our proffesion is the REAL problem, or the real CHALLENGE as I prefer.

You can add voids with angle parameters at the end of you line based family. This will allow you to mitre the corners. This way you can have them join at any angle.
I use this method for kitchen prep benches and detailed skirting and cornices.

Easiest way is to make them a closed Loop type, not too complex
Just use Invisible Line weight on the Gutter in Section & its done.
