Default FBX Woes from Revit Arch 2011 to MaxDesgin 2011

I cannot figure out how to get my FBX file into MAX from Revit.

I've installed the latest FBX driver (2011.3).
I've updated Revit 2011 with the web update 1.
    I'm using Max Design 2011.

    Workflow:
    1. In Revit, switch to a 3D View...Export/FBX...and point to the 3dsMaxDesign/Import folder.
    2. In Max, Import/FBX...and use the Revit Architecture preset setting.

The Import plugin tells me that there are 2956 objects in the file, but when the plugin finishes, there's nothing in my scene. Nothing..no cameras, no materials, no lights, no geometry...even the objects selector is empty, and the file properties doesn't show any objects.

I've noticed that when the Export gets to 66%, that Revit freezes and displays a (not responding) message after the file name in the title bar...but then snaps back to life in a few more seconds. I never see it go from 66% to 100%...it just goes instantly from 66% to returning to use. The FBX files it creats are about 1.25 times the size of the Revit file. And, when I examine the contents of the FBM folder created, I can see that there are plenty of files in there, including one that, I'm assuming, contains the scene geometry "ADSKBLOBS.adsklib".

What am I doing wrong? Or what needs to be fixed?

You are not alone - myself and many others have gone through support tickets with Autodesk on this. You mentioned you are running revit web update 1. That's a good first step, however, have you installed the latest hotfix for 3ds MAX?

There was a bug that would prevent the FBX import from working if you have RPC content in your Revit model. They have fixed that.

There is another issue I'm trying to get them to fix. If you import your FBX and there are new ADSK materials applied to objects, their maps either do not apply at the correct scale or do not display at all. This applies to the viewport or rendered images. My ticket on this one is still open.

No, I'm not running the latest hotfix for Max- I'll go hunt that down right now! Thanks!

PS: When I hide the RPC content, I can export and import well enough. Thank you to those in here and other forums that suggested I dump the RPC's- you know who you are!
