    Default worksets?

    hi,

we started our MEP model (1 model) and now we need help for the plumbing side. we have a consultant that can continue the plumbing portion only. i tried sending then our MEP model and arch model. (i detached from central on both models and sent it to them) now they are telling me that they can't open the model and work on them because it says that they do not have permission to edit elements....

1- is this a proper way to care of this? or should worksets/borrow worksets come to play here? (we did not create separate worksets, just used one) and can someone please explain to me how borrow worksets work.

    thanks in advance!

Whoever received your model needs to detach from central (even if you already did).
They need to do a saveas, than go into worksets and make them non-editable than saveas again.

    Borrowing
Allows you to edit an element that you do not own. If no one owns the element, permission to borrow is automatically granted. If another team member is currently editing the element, that team member is the owner of the element and you must place a request to borrow the element from that team member or have them relinquish.

When you saved back to central, before detaching from central, did you relinquish all worksets and borrowed elements?

jrobker- that's exactly what i told them and it didn't work the first time. now it does. thanks!

    RobertB- yes i did.

now, when i get the model back, how would i insert the plumbing work into our model and be able to edit as well? at the same time i would only need their updated plumbing model, meaning what ever i have is old. how can i replace that?

    once again thanks!

I've done this before but it was all floating equipment and pipe, I just did a copy and paste from 3d view to 3d view, it worked fine. I don't know what would happen if a bunch of hosted devices were being used, but i've never tried it.
