Default Modify DWG without opening AutoCAD

    Hi,

I'm a newcomer and a beginner to AutoCAD, but highly skilled in C# programming. I am interested if what I want can be accomplished. I have googled and searched to no avail - all I find is how to build a procedure that can be executed inside AutoCAD itself.

I want my Windows application to open DWG, change it and then save the file. All of this should be done internally, no display of drawings or stuff, I just need to change XREF paths and need to batch this process using my application.

Can this be done and can somone point me to the solution?

Thank you very much in advance.

The short answer is no. Your assembly needs a host. You have 3 options.
    1. Use the Reference Manager that comes with AutoCAD. Its a separate prog under the Autodesk folder under Start.
    2. Buy a license of RealDwg.
    3. Check out Open Design Alliance.

    Hey Ed,

Do you have a link or could you tell me where there is any information for using the Reference Manager as a host.

    Thanks
