change category

just want to confirm if it's possible to change element category using API, like change Speciality Equipment to Electrical Fixture? from Lookup table, seems it's not read-only

The API documentation suggests the Element.Catagory property is read-only. I'm also having trouble finding a reason you'd want to do this since it seems pretty rare to require an element to turn into something fundamentally different like ceiling -> floor. Can you give some more information on what you're trying to accomplish?

well, sometimes families created or got from somewhere is not in most suitable category, even though it's rare.
