Default General Notes/ Sheet Specification Management

    HI,
Who has thought of a good way to manage Sheet Notes? We would like to have a template created in microsoft word from which we can select pertinant sections and link into our revit file. its a pain in the butt to have to export a PDF and re-import the file each time the notes are revised/ changed. Has anybody come up with a solution to this problem? We have decided not to do this internally within revit because it lacks many of Word's helpful fromatting tools. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. thanks - csdg

I have done all of my notes as families using a generic annotations template.
In these I have been able to do such things as set up variable inputs for certain notes (ie design loads, regions, categories etc)
I just load the family in to revit, drag and drop it onto any sheet where I need it, usually a cover notes page, and then alter properties of the notes as required to update any variables as mentioned already.

You could even go as far as making note 'blocks' for example sub notes within a normal heading, you could make these able to turn on/off with a yes/no toggle in the properties.

Graphic items we have in a legend view in our template. Pure Text notes, abbreviation lists, etc. we have built into Key Schedules. The advantage there is that these views can be imported from project to project, or from the Template, etc. You can then edit them relatively easily on a per project basis.

There are several API programs that will read/excel information into a Revit Schedule which works fantasically with Key schedules.

Thanks for the replies. I'm curious about using the API to import from excel. I know nothing about programming, but I just stumbled upon this thread.

It looks like it might be helpful. thanks again.

the code posted by Alfredo near the end of the thread is what I'm using to get key notes from Excel to a Revit key schedule. It works a charm!

This is still not working for us. We are using 64 bit but I have also tried 32 bit and no luck on either.

Karalon10 this technique sounds very interesting and might be exactly what I'm looking for. Can you post an example of what you've done with the generic annotation template.
