Default apply any parameter to imported geometry

Is it possible to apply a parameter, like material parameter, to imported geometry,
or know of a sleek workaround?

Unfortunately cant link to a parameter, but under object styles/ imported geometry (within the project or/and family) you can apply a material to the "layer" of the imported geometry, so it pays to change the layers (and therenames) within the object to be based on different materials
