Default Can't Share a nested family

    Hi,
I am trying to create a family to use for sound barriers on plant platforms. At this stage all i want to show is the posts and the girts.
It is a Generic Model family. I have the family working ie i can place it and change number of posts etc.
    The problems I have that i am not sure how go about are;
    1. I want to be able to tag the posts in the model. The posts are set in a nested family and when I change them to Shared i can’t “map” the parameters in the host family.
    2. I don’t seem to be able to array or lock my girts.I have added Parameters to for controlling the top and btm girt and it doesn’t work – am not sure what i did wrong.

Any Suggestions on the above would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    J

    Quick responce (no time sorry!)
item 1. = the nested component parameters (if shared) need to be changed to instance based only

    Thanks mate,

I tried to change the parameters in my nested family ti instance but I still couldn't tag my post. The nested family contains the post and girts. It is then nested into a generic linebased famliy which is using an array.

I will play around with it during the weekend when I have some time

    Thanks,

    J

I went into each nested family and made sure that all of them were shared. I believe your original column family is not shared. You then have to go into the bay family and reload the shared column into that family. Make sure to trickle it all down the line then you will have it.

Worked for me with the columns. Didn't try the girts yet.

    Good Luck,

    Thanks mate,

For some reason it didn’t cross my mind to check the column family within the nested family?????
