Text Height Changing Text box to Properties

Using 2011 MEP mtext, if I set the text from the text box to a set heigt say 9". After entering my text and exiting the text box the size jumps to something huge, around 72'. I can only correct the size by changing it in the properties pallette. Even if I go back to edit the text and I change the size from the pull down it reverts to some random size. I've noticed that it doesn't always do this, I'm not sure if it's drawing specific or not. Anyone know what could be causing this? I'm not using an annotative text style.

That sounds like annotative text style types. Maybe there's an error somewhere which turns the text to annotative when it shouldn't. Have you tried a support request to AutoDesk?

I haven't tried a support request, I didn't think it was possible to get any support from Autodesk.... I've attached a drawing with the issue, if anyone has any suggestions. The tex still shows up as non-annotative.
