    Default array in two directions

    Hi,
I try to build a family for solar-moduls. I want to define the length and the width of each module by parameters and the length and the width of the arrayed elements. My problem is, I can only create an array in one direction (width). If I want to make the same element arrayed in length-direction, some parameters get lost.
What is wrong. Do I have to work with an extern family part, which is loaded into the "new" family?

Thanks in advance for any idea
    Daniel

Try using the X,Y Parameter for the Array. Generally speaking entities selected can only be used with one Array Action. The X,Y Parameter overcomes this limitation.

Yes. Try creating one family for one module with all the parameters you need. Then you nest it into a new family, create the same parameters and link with the ones from the first family. This will allow you to control the first family from inside the second one. Now create the array in one direction and add a parameter to it. Now load this second family into a new one, again linking the parameters (including the array one) and create the array in the other direction.

    Andre,

I think that works fine for solids but no voids, unless this has been corrected in 2011.

    Jeff S,
No Jeff, this has not been fixed in 2011. Actually, it's not broken, it's just the way void works...

But I haven't opened his family neither he mentioned anything about arraying voids, thus my suggestion above. But I agree, if voids are to be arrayed, then my suggestion won't work.

Wow!, in any case this is too complicated, I have the same problem, Geomtery is working with its parameter ok, until I array it. I think this is pretty bad from revit...

What is it you are trying to accomplish? An array with voids or a simple array of a nested component?
