how to switch back from MEP to Autocad

How do I turn off MEP and switch back to a plain autocad format.?
I have just changed computers and the installation is all wrong. I used to have one shortcut take me to abs settings and another for plain autocad. I just can't seem to find a way to get just autocad, I don't want the adt menus either. After a lot of tinkering and manually loading the acad.mnu file I now have a combination of autocad and adt which is causing some conflicts.
We only use this for opening old drawings but we do go back to old files quite often. Jobs are sometimes ongoing for several years.
Is there an easy way to fix this?

Have you checked the Profiles that are available (Options dialog, Profiles tab). Are there any there that suggest that they would be vanilla AutoCAD?

If so, you should be able to employ the technique outlined in this blog article to create the desired shortcut. That was written for AutoCAD Architecture 2008, but it should work for AMEP 2010.

If not, you might want to try the technique that Matt Dillon described (link to his article can be found in mine). In essence, create a shortcut that references a profile name that does not exist. AMEP will create the profile with default settings, which happen to be vanilla AutoCAD.
