    Default systems and performance

Our model has become un-manageably slow and I need to figure out why. It seems to have gotten a lot worse since putting a lot of stuff onto systems. I noticed that a warning for the default systems will pop up saying something to the effect of "you have over 50 things on this system so we will not do calculations because it will take too long." I don't need revit to do any calculations for me on these systems, is there a way to turn the calculations off on the less-than-50 systems? Or is there anything else I should look into to improve performance related to systems?

No help here, just commiseration. Currently working on a 12 story project, M, E and P and we are well over the 50 thing systems error but do not experience the kind of slow down I think you are experiencing. When I have the System Browser up, things get really slooooow. When I close the browser, things get quicker.

We have Arch & Struct models linked, Worksets enabled with about 5 or 6 users.

I don't think anyone has come up with a solid reason why performance instantly tanks on some projects at a certain point. I have used systems and have had other projects that I don't use systems...regardess I've had the slow down happen at some points and not on every projects. It really doesn't seem to be inconsistent.

Check your families. If you have any families with cad geometry in them it kills your models.

CAD geometry of any description, linked, imported, not just hosted in families

Overly detailed families are a performance killer as well.
