Can you schedule detail lines?! If so, how?

No this is not possible. Detail lines are view specific. Only model objects can be scheduled.
I'd be curious to know the reason behind this? We often look for info about Detail Lines and can export them to Excel, as a quality-control issue, but off-hand I can't think why this would be scheduled?
That's what I feared.
I need to measure grooves that are to be made in a slab-structure under walls between different functions in the building. The grooves are there to stop sound from travelling to and from certain rooms through the slab. Not all the rooms needs this, or else I could make a wall schedule. Some places the grooves are'nt the full lenght of the walls drawn. If I were to make a wall-schedule, I would have to split the walls where the grooves stop, which means lot's of work. There are also curtain walls.
I tried selecting all the detail lines, but it didnt give me a combined length.
Any pointers?
Use a line based Generic model, that just has a symbolic line in it, and a Shared parameter for length. Then its "modeled," exists in 3d space, is something real, and can be scheduled and seen in every view.
