    Default Collision Detection

I am very new to the API thing here, and after going through the SDK, I feel overwhelmed, but I have great hope. Im doing this because the other day I was running some collision test before we send out our model. I was thinking to myself after an hour of going through the xml file, and looking up ever elemnt by id, and isolating the two elements in question to see if the collision was worth moving stuff, "ther has got to be better way." The API sounds like it could be my Huckleberry, but I think something for these purposes could be a bit much for a novice like myself. Would creating a collision test command be worth the time and training? Can it be done? Revit MEP 2009

    Thanks All for their input.

Certainly no need to reinvent the wheel.
You could just use Navisworks for more advanced collision detection.

Thats great, but it still doesn't help that much. With revit built in collision detection, I can get a list of collsions, and the same with navis, except I can view the elements. But for the purpose of this, I would like the ability, since revit can generate the list given to elements to check against, to segregate these elements in a view and decide if the collision is something worth moving, and move it a bit. Im an MEP guy, so this isnt big colissions, hopefully, and can usually be corrected with a few nudges of the keys.
