    Default Pipe Accessory Annotation

I am trying to create the annotation of what a p-trap box should look like in plan view. In medium view (which is what is on my sheets) the family needs to look like the picture attached. The green circle is the pipe drawn virtical from the p-trap in my project. It gets smaller in diameter when I change the scale from 1/8 to 1/4. Is there any way to get the 2d symbology to get smaller just like the pipe when I change the scale? It needs to be consistent with the size of the pipe on plan.

Has anyone figured this out? I know the thread is old, and keep looking, but haven't found anything that seems to work. We currently have a job with about 1000 traps, and I'm not looking forward to creating a detail line of the half-moon and copying it around the project. Any help or a trap that works would be appreciated.

You can control the size of the pipe drop annotation in the Manage Tab, MEP settings, Mechanical Settings, Pipe Settings.

Not sure about changing it to match the size of the pipe drop though.

The P-trap in revit doesn't display the back half moon. So in a floor plan view it looks the same as a 90 degree elbow up.

Have you tried making the drop annotation a "symbol"? Make the drop a symbol which you place in your p-trap family. Then when you change scales it should change sizes as well.

When you open the p-trap in the family editor, open the "Ref. Level" view. In that view you can insert an Annotation Symbol family (your drop symbol).

However, an annotation symbol will always be the same size with relation to the printed sheet. If your drop is 1/8"ø, it will adjust its size so that it always shows Up 1/8"ø on a printed sheet, regardless of the scale of the view. So your drop symbol may match a modeled pipe in a view of one scale but not a view of a different scale.

The other problem you'll run into is that as the annotation symbol changes its size depending on scale it will invariably either overlap modeled elements or show a gap between the symbol and modeled element when what you really want is for the drop symbol to just touch the modeled element.

As far as I know, there are no easy anwers to these two problems.
