    Default AutoCAD questions for interviewing

Finally, our HR department has agreed to let me come up with a list of questions that we can use to ask people who are applying for an AutoCAD position. Traditionally, HR has shied away from "testing" the applicants, just taking their claim of experience as true. Sometimes it backfires.

Do any of you have (verbal or written) questions that you ask during an interview to verify a certain skill level? Do you require a drawing test?

If you are not involved in the hiring process, if you were, what questions would you like to ask?

Duuude! You rock. Thanks! Nice thread.

One other point to consider. The people asking these questions will probably not be CAD literate. So the questions have to be clear, with concise, specific answers. The interviewers will not be able to clarify the questions. They will probably just record their answer and pass it to me after the interview.

    Hi

Why aren't you sitting in on the interviews, that is the question I would be asking the company.

    Have a good one, Mike

for my job, I was interviewed by my boss (an engineer with next to no cad experience), then given a drawing test by an engineer with cad experience, then given an interview by Human Resources. After I interviewed with HR, he called my boss and they decided together to hire me.

    Hi

During the interview process you were at least seen by someone who had CAD experience, that was the point I was trying to make (badly).

    Have a good one, Mike

Stand back, Don is going to give his opinion here........

That is nuts, you should be a part of that interview. As a minimum for 15 min to ask the CAD questions, and leave when they talk money.

    BTW....Glad I could help.

yeah, the point I made badly was I had to be interviewed by human resources who know nothing of my job... got lucky having an engineer there who knew a little about cad. i'm sure we're helping, though... right chris?

It's probably a major acheivement that you are able to submit CAD questions at all. Maybe as soon as the interviewer gets the idea that he has no idea what the candidate is saying, he'll call you in. HR departments can evolve, too.

Maybe submit a hard ACAD question and when they ask you to explain tell them that it would be easier sit in on the interview until you ask your question. haha
