    Default Sheet Notes From Autocad

    Hello

I need a 2nd opinion about Autocad sheet notes to be transfered to Revit.

I was told that it is not good practice to Block Autocad "sheet notes" and import
    them into Revit.

We use alot of "General Notes", "Sheet Notes", "Demo Notes", etc. on our Autocad
sheets. Why retype those notes? Can someone tell me the best practice on doing this.

I've heard different stories regarding details also.

I think what I'm asking is this, what drawing information from Autocad can we use in Revit?

thank you, thank you, thank you.

Transferring from autocad to revit is problematic. Both for details and text notes it will involve some clean-up once you bring it in to Revit. Sometimes it is a time-saver, other times it takes longer to clean up than it would to draw from scratch, it just depends. For text notes I would recommend creating new revit text and copy-pasting the content in. The one thing to be careful of with details is all the extra stuff that comes along with it (text styles, linetypes, etc). It creates unnecessary clutter. What I have done before that worked pretty well was to start a new project to import from CAD into Revit, then do all the cleanup and import from there into the real project. All the extra line and text types stay in the first project, so they never clutter up your real project.

I often bring in nicely formatted text notes from AutoCAD. I just create a drafting view detail, link the AutoCAD text in and drop it on a sheet. If I need to edit the text I can do that in AutoCAD which has a decent set of text editing tools. Just edit and update the link. Dealing with large blocks of text in Revit can be a pain. I only use this for large amounts of text, or text that challenges Revits formatting abilities.

into Revit, it's be careful doing it. Live and learn kinda thing uh?
