Am I the only one that 2011 crashes on daily

It has reached the point that I am really getting frustrated with the software and feel like reinstalling 2010. I am wondering if any other users are having to deal with Autocad 2011 or Architecture 2011 crashing daily? I haven't been able to pinpoint the cause. It seems to happen during editing commands but it isnt isolate to that. I havent had to deal with this kind of crashing since I think release 14 when the drawings would get hung up on associative hatching. I do like some of the new visual features including the updated hatch and layer isolate commands but I dont think it is worth the aggravation.

I have to admit, I've been working almost exclusively with Civil 3D 2011, on some fairly large project components and I've had virutally no crashes now for 6+ months. Much better than previous releases of Civil 3D and/or Land Desktop.

My office uses Map 2011 and I have multiple crashes daily. They have occurred during plotting, opening a file, closing a file, attempting xref, simple linework, switching from MS to PS and back. The crashes seem more prevalent when I have another program, such as Excel or Firefox open in the background. Also, it seems that, at least on my install, 2011 has a huge memory leak.

Now, there is another CAD tech in the office with the same make/model/specification workstation, same drivers, same OS, with same SP and updates, and he has experienced hardly any issues.

Suppose it could just be a hardware issue endemic to my workstation.

I have found that the 64 bit version seems more stable than 32, but possibly that is due to the extra ram it is able to utilize. I'd also say that probably about 99% of my crashes are because of Eagle Point (our 3rd party civil add-on). I try to avoid using it at all costs.

It would be very helpful if each person would list their OS and machine specifications.

I am still on C3D 2009 with XP Pro but am hoping to upgrade soon. The only thing stopping me is my company won't be upgrading the OS for probably another year. I will be watching this thread to see if these issues are related to the OS or lack of sufficient memory.

Does it matter what size the file is that you're working on?

I have autocad 2011 and I have found that I get errors weekly for sure. Its a little bit annoying I also run it for a 64 bit processor so Im not sure why I have issues either.

I also posted my issue with Autodesk. After paying more attention to my woes I noticed my performance was laggy when starting the hatch command and it was crashing with the trim command. Autodesk has an update for Architecture 2011 that is supposed to alleviate the problem. I will let you know how it works.

I use 2011 Mechanical and have had very few crashes since upgrading in April. April through July I was using an XP Pro 32bit, 4gb, dual xeon, nVidia 1300 quadro machine. Since August I have been using a Win 7 64bit, 6gb, dual xeon, nVidia 3800 machine.

I upgraded my computer substantially using Autocad 2011.

pre upgrade computer 2.0 ghz 32 bit duel core, 2 gig ram, with a gaming vid card and it crashed multiple times a day.

after the upgrade, I7 2.8ghz, 64 bit quad core, 12 gig ram, quatro 1800 card - maybe a couple crashes a week

huge difference. it still crashes but alot less often.
