    Default Circles with beveled edges

    Esteemed AUGI Colleagues....

My 3D work has been coming along nicely. Thanks for your continued support. It's still a matter of 'What does this button do?' But I am progressing and doing some actual work now.
I was toying around, drafting up some tooling for some small projects.
One situation has me a bit stumped, so I'll do my best to explain the situation.
I want to create a circle, solid, or surface, hollow on the inside, like a ring, beveled on one side of the inside diameter.
So....I have the depth at 1/16". I have the outer diameter at 5/8". The interior diameter is 3/8". I can make that piece easily. However, I want to bevel that interior circumfrence. At 45deg, with a 1/32" depth. I am completely stumped.
I was thinking of using a 3d Polyline to create two arcs, in a sort of wedge shape, but I won't be able to try it out until tommorrow.

I hope I didn't throw too many folks off with the measurements, especially if I didn't write them in this post correctly, so just picture a ring, any given size and depth, with the interior circumfrence beveled on one face. What would be the simplest way to accomplish this routine task?

The simplest method is to use the CHAMFER command. It works the same as is 2D but with a couple of extra picks or enters required.

I will give that a go. I just assumed that both Fillet, and Chamfer didn't work in 3D. If that's all I need, it should be a piece of cake!

    Thaks, Jaberwok!

    Jab,
I just did as you suggested, it worked perfect! It took less then a minute to create.
I went on an assumption certain commands didn't work in a 3D environment.

That is one small step for a 3D CAD guru, one giant leap for a novice.

    Progress can be good.
You'll be pleased to know that FILLET works too.

I would be pleased if someone can clue me in as to how Autocad deals with GD&T....But I guess that requires a bit more legwork then Autocad can provide on it's own.

    But on a lighter note,
let's say I have a solid, with two holes 1" from the sides. If I wanted to adjust that solid to offset the holes 2" from the sides, do I always have to create a new solid, or is there a way to adjust the solid so that I can move hole locations around without redrawing?

Activate the solids editing toolbar if you haven't already. The button with an icon that includes a four-way arrow is "move faces". That should help. Look at all the other buttons too to see what else can be done.

    Beautiful, Thanks again Jab....

I didn't notice the Solids editing toolbar because it didn't come up with the 3d navigation panel. I'll have to figure out how to pin it to there.
I also notice that instead of wasting all the time I've been wasting, Press/Pull, is a very efficient way to convert a 2D object to a 3D solid.

I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions as time goes on. For now I need to study up on some GD&T....
