    Default Light fixture placement

I have an issue and I am not sure how to fix it. I am on the first floor RCP, placing a can light fixture on the face of the ceiling grid. This is a linked in arch file, and I am using Revit MEP 2011. When I select "Place on Face", I can see the can as my pointer on the ceiling grid, but when I move it to the left all of a sudden it disappears. Please see attached zip file with a little video.

    Any thoughts?

I'm having the same problem. Have you found a solution?

Is there really a ceiling grid there or was it fudged with lines? When you look at it in 3D, is the can light REALLY attached to the ceiling?

Is the view range set properly and can you see it in the lighting plan( NOT the ceiling plan). Also do a 3d view of the plan to see where it is placed.

There is definately a ceiling in the architecture model. I can see it in section and 3D, and the view range can't be an issue since the light will host to the same ceiling in a different spot. And no, the ceiling isn't sloping.

Does the arch have a fixture placed in the area? If so arch lights create a void in the ceiling so there is no ceiling for you to host to.

Open the archie's model and disect that area of the building. At 0:07 of the video, you're crossing the edge of something. Try a tab-select in that area to see what items are there. SOMETHING is there.
