Unhappy Problem Inserting DWG in Revit. (not exceeding 2 mile radius)

I have done this process many times and familar with the 2 mile radius
but I keep getting this error message while loading this dwg (attached below).

... has extents greater than 1e9 in AutoCAD units. Data exceeding that range will be truncated...

I have tried everything I can think of to check for invisible elements and even did a cut and paste
into a new dwg file but no success. It comes in truncated and unuseable.

I have also done a purge and audit.

I did move the geometry to the origin 0,0 and I get the message but the dwg does come in.
This not ideal as there are several civil dwg files that need to be used for this project and
with regular updates. Plus we need the Eastings and Northings in Revit.

If anyone can help it will be much appreciated.

I have included the dwg file.
The AutoCAD file is in millimetres and the Revit file is also in millimetres.

The AutoCAD being used is 2009 and Revit Architecture is 2011

    Thanks in advance
    Richard

I believe that the problem is actually due to the distance of the AutoCAD linework from the AutoCAD origin (6367968682.340mm - almost 4,000 miles if I did my math correctly).

When I moved the linework so that a corner of the building outline is at 0,0,0 in AutoCAD, I can import the file into Revit with no error messages.

This is a quote from the link supplied by andrewg

Now, it doesn't matter where the elements are in the CAD file, as long as there are no actual elements more than 2 miles from each other.
I don't think the problem is not being the distince the geometry being away from the origin 0,0,0. I have inserted dwgs before with geometry 1000s of miles away from the origin.

The problem exists with geometry being all within a 2 mile radius and for some reason this file has something floating somewhere in the dwg causing it to exceed the 2 mile radius.

Thanks for the suggestion to move the geometry close to the origin in AutoCAD but really would like to leave the geometry in its original position if possible.

Any thoughts on how to find this bogus geometry within the dwg file?

I had a similar problem once and tried everything you've mentioned. When I created a new file by using the WBlock command in Autocad it somehow managed to clean up whatever the problem was. Copy and paste didn't do it but WBlock did. YMMV.

And make sure you are using Manual - Center for the import method.

I'm embarrassed to say I still know a bunch about AutoCAD.
There's a command called BASE that can let you Insert a block or an XRef using a point that's not the Origin.
On your DWG, BASE is set to 0,0, while the rest of the file is way off somewhere.
In AutoCAD, Try typing in BASE and picking a point in the middle of the graphics, save and try Linking it in again in Revit. I'm in the midst of converting a big Revit file, so I can't try it, but I'll bet a that's your problem.

It wasn't "Base" in my case but some geometry floating out in space in the Z-direction. Once I took care of that (deleted), I was able to link into Revit just fine.

Hope this little bit of info helps others!

I am so glad i found this comment. I was getting so frustrated then I thought of turning to the forums! moving the floor plan to 0,0 worked.
