Question Revit Ribbon Display across Remote Desktop Issue

Has anyone run into an issue with the Revit UI not displaying across Windows Remote Desktop? In particular, the Application Window, Ribbon, Quick Access Toolbar, and Communication Center are not visible thru the remote session. They are there, you can click and launch commands but they are not visible. The project browser, options bar, properties pallettte and viewing area all display correctly.

Also worth noting, all other application work fine with the exceptino of Autodesk. Autocad and Design Review also have the same issue. The same items mentioned above do not display across RD. This includes Revit 2011, Revit 2010, Autocad 2011, Design Review...etc.

I can only get Revit 2010 with the 2009 UI Switch to work correctly across RD! Kinda funny..it works.

This is going from a Windows 7 Professional x64 machine to another Windows 7 Professional x64 machine. Both machines are running the latest version of Revit, Windows 7 SP1 installed. Both have the same and updated video card drivers. Dell t3500's...

Also used LogMeIn with the same results...no ribbon...

    Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Are you using an Aero theme?

I have tried with and without an Aero theme on both local and remote machines. Same issue persists.

    Thanks for your inquiry.

Mine works like a champ, as long as I don't full screen the remote desktop view.

    Scott,

Thanks for your input. Are you using Windows 7 machines and Windows Remote Desktop. Across VPN?

I have the same issue, running windows 7 and windows xp 64bit at home. Mine is on and off, it sometimes works fine. Seems to affect both revit 2011 and Autocad 2011....Try rebooting the remote PC it seems to work for me, however the down side can't remotely reboot.

Let me know if you find a solution.

    Update:

This issue does not occur with Revit 2012...now we just need some projects to use Revit 2012...Still not sure what caused it; Windows, Autodesk, Nvidia, Sonic Wall...shrug.

I have been accessing my work machine from home for some years now and never had an issue with the Revit UI. I'm on Win7 64-bit at work, and WinXP 32-bit at home. I used to access my work machine thru VPN, but now have the office router set up to direct my home RDP to access my workstation directly without VPN (MUCH faster!).

I have resorted to RDP for working on projects at home, as my home machine built in 2006 with only 3 GB RAM just doesn't cut it anymore for running 2011 and 2012. I used to open a project thru VPN on my home machine and make a local copy and it worked great (SWC times weren't too bad, 5-10 minutes at most) but lately the software I think has just gotten too advanced for my home machine. So I do RDP until I can afford to upgrade my home machine.
