Crop Region

I was trying to test the crop region of the floor plan. See attached file.

I only want the left and right regions to be visible. Why is the middle portion still visilbe? (Even I have the "annotation crop" checked in the properties box.)

This is expected behavior. Grids won't be trimmed by the split crop region. The annotation crop only applies to the outer boundaries of the cropped view not the internal ones. If you don't want to see the other view specific elements in the gap (lines, dimensions, text etc.) they can be deleted from the view.
If you move the potions of the view closer together you'll notice that your angled grids will 'crank' to keep themselves in proper alignment. If you need to leave the middle space open for notes or something you can alter the gridline type and create one with a center segment gap.

So is there a way that I can do it like the AutoCAD way? Just 2 viewports with nothing in between?
When you say to delete the grid lines in this view, they will be deleted in the other views as well, right?

I said view specific elements could be deleted. The grids can be modified so there is no 'middle' to them.
You can do this by duplicating the grid type, going to the type properties and selecting Custom from the Center Segment Parameter. This will add grips to the grid allowing you to stretch them to where you want them to stop and start. You can set a default using the End Segment Length parameter so you don't need to modify them individually.

Sorry, I don't mean to misinterpret what you said.
That's a good idea, let me give it a try.

The reason I'm doing this is that the floor plan is so big, if it's in 1/8" scale, I have to use the matchlines and crop regions to divide this up into 4 quadrants.

Just so I'm understand...
These quadrant views will be placed on separate sheets or are you just 'compressing' the overall plan and placing it on just one sheet?

If it's one sheet, one view then do it with the split crop region. If you need 4 separate views on 4 different sheets look into dependent views for this.

I did some research and there's a new feature in 2011 that you can "snap to grid"?

What you are looking for is the Guide Grid
