Default Blocks from Shape file data

Is it possible to create blocks from imported shape file data?
I have an ESRI file with water line valve data that I need to bring into AutoCAD.
Can I import that data as block infomation?

Yes if the shp file is a point type and you have the block predefined in your dwg with exact attribute tags as the attributes in the shp file. Uppercase/Lowercase matters also.
