Default "namespace for closing document is not found"

    Hello,

Acad 2011 will not open a dwg file created by Illustrator CS5. It only flashes a quick message "namespace for closing document is not found".

Acad 2010 will open the same dwg file without problem.

Does anyone know how to get 2011 to open such a drawing file? Eventually I don't think I'll have the option to open these files in 2010.
    Thank you.

Each subsequent version of AutoCAD is more stringent than the previous in validating data during open/import operations. It sounds like 2011 is finding errors in the DWG file that 2010 isn't catching.

Have you tried the ._RECOVER command in 2011?
Can you export from CS5 to another format (DXF?)

you might want to try loading Draftsight (free cad app) and see if that gets better results with a dwg originating in Illustrator

    Recover didn't work.
However, Illustrator can export a DXF and ACAD 2011 opened that format without problem.
It's been eons since I've had to use dxfs, so I'd completely forgotten about them.
    Thank you!
