Question Pulling a shared parameter value from a linked room into a space tag

I have seen older posts on this topic, but none with solutions.

We use space tags to display room data contained in linked models where the architect has defined their rooms. It works great for room name and number, but quite often the architect wants to display custom data for each room, and I have been unable to figure out how to pull that data over into our space tag.

For a test, I created a Revit file, created a shared parameter and assigned it to rooms, and then defined a room and gave it a value for the shared parameter.

Next, I created another Revit file, linked in the first file, and associated a space with the room in the linked file. The space tag has labels for room name and number, and these values come through from the linked file and display as expected.

Next I edited the space tag family, added a label pointing to the shared parameter, and loaded it into my project. Nothing.

Next, in the project I associated the shared parameter with spaces, then with rooms, then with both spaces and rooms. Nothing.

With the shared parameter associated with rooms, I even created a space schedule, and the shared parameter value from the linked file shows up in the schedule! However, I can't get it to show up in my space tag.

Does anyone know if there is any way to do what I'm trying to do?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cool Re: Pulling a shared parameter value from a linked room into a space tag

PS - barring any genius answers from others, if anyone else is having this trouble: our workaround right now is to add the shared parameter to our spaces, and then schedule it showing our space parameter and their room parameter. Then we have to manually maintain the column for our spaces, but at least we don't have to go to every room (we can just copy the value from the room column to the space column).
