    Default Rise/Drop duct symbols

I felt it was worth resurrecting this old thread on Rise/Drop symbols because the main issue originally discussed is still unresolved: http://www.augi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100008

I went to fix the Rise/Drop duct symbols in a 2011 Revit MEP project as someone had switch them to the non-filled versions so ups and downs look virtually the same. Supply and Return are an easy fix since we use Cross - Filled and Slash - Filled respectively. Exhaust is the problem child as our standard is to use the Reverse Wye symbol but for the Rise, there is no Reverse Wye - Filled option.

I know the previous discussion wondered down the path of Autodesk providing custom symbol options but I think the original intent is to at least add any other relatively common industry standard symbols. I would think just adding a Wye - Filled and Reverse Wye - Filled would cover 90% of the issues. I am shocked this hasn't been addressed sooner, this is pretty basic and I think just rolling over and saying "Well I guess Revit can't do that" is idiotic for something so basic. Autodesk, don't worry about adding anything fancy, we just want a few more symbol options.

    Thanks.

I agree totally. I hate having to explain something like this to the higher ups and all I can say is "I know it can do supply and return, but Revit can't hatch exhaust"

Dear Autodesk, when you do get around to adding these symbols is there any chance you can expose or add a parameter to ducts (and maybe pipes, conduit and I guess cable tray too) that says UP or DOWN if the duct passes through the top or bottom of the view plane (if both, say UP/DOWN) and if neither just leave it blank. My thought process is that some engineers (not all because some think the shading tells you if it is up or down) like to call out the size and UP or DOWN or UP/DOWN for the riser and if we can have one Duct size tag that is smart enough to just add UP, DOWN (sometimes also just DN), or UP/DOWN (or UP/DN for to shorten it) to the size, we can male the tags work smarter.

Right now I just added a few extra types to the Duct size tag that have UP or DN in the suffix after the size. Adding the above parameter would allow us to use a parameter to control this annotation rather than having a bunch of Labels stacked on top of each other in the tag family with visibilities. There has to be something in Revit that tells it when to use the filled symbols if it is an UP and not when it is a DOWN so just expose that toggle as a readable parameter so we can us it to control these tags.

    Thanks
