Question Displaying Families Above in Plan Also

    Problem:
I want my family to show up in a regular plan as well as an RCP but it doesn't

    Solution:
Add symbolic or model lines to the Ref Plan view of the family

    Background:
Before r7.0 you could, in the family, add and lock an invisible line (elevation or section view) that started at the reference plane and extended up to the object. The family would show up in a regular plan view as well as an RCP.

After r7.0 a family that is above the cut plane that doesn't have any geometry visible in plan won't display even after you add the vertical invisible line to the object.

Revit knows that your family is there but there isn't anything to display in the plan view.
