Default Create NWD file in Revit 2011

We recently downloaded Navisworks Freedom 2011 at our office so we could give it a try and see how it works. I've been trying to create an NWD file from Revit 2011 but have only been able to create NWC files. I used the official Exporter Tool that I downloaded from Autodesk, and there doesn't appear to be an option to export a Revit file in NWD. Is there any way to create an NWD file from Revit, or is this a trick to get us to pony up for Navisworks Simulate/Manage?

In a word yes. You need to buy a version of Navis to open the .nwc to save it out as an .nwd

Oddly you can export to nwd from autocad, but definitely not Revit http://thebuildingcoder.typepad.com/...rom-revit.html

    David,

How do you create a full NWD from ACAD? WE usually just use the DWG importer in NW.
MooksBK, eeny if you could export an NWD from Revit and open it in Freedom, what you can do with it will be so limited that its not really worth it. Freedon is a free viewer for processed NW files. The workflow is Revit-NW-Freedom. I free what do you expect. To actually process NWC files you need at least NW Simulate.

Revit to Freedom is going to be DWF, or DWFx. I didn't even know until 2 days ago that Freedom wont read an NWC.

Doesn't look like NWDOUT is native to AutoCAD. I don't have that command. It must install with Navisworks Manage.
