    Default Grid Head Position

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with placing a Grid Head on the side of the grid line to indicate (face of) a column or wall? I cant seem to figure out how to edit the grid head to show this placment. Or are we just stuck with it being in the center in revit 2011?
    Thanks
    Jb

    Welcome to the forums.
If you edit the grid head family you can do it. The intersection of the ref planes in the grid head family control where the grid line goes in relation to the grid head.
In your project browser open the family that is your grid head.
In the family editor go to Visibility and Graphics and turn on the ref planes so you can see where they are.
Select the grid bubble and the label and move them to where you want.
I've never seen this annotation convention before. Is this an office convention or specific to your geographic location?
I'd also like to suggest that you might want to create a different 'bubble' shape (double circle, hexagon, square or whatever) rather than use this approach.

We are adding on to a hospital so we already have 2 diff grid heads one for existing and one for new. In the existing dwgs of the hospital they show the grids on the face of columns not the center so my boss was wanting grid that went to the face.

so you will need to place columns by face on grid.
you can create new column family that has insert reference point at face of column.
i have done this for projects with tappered steel columns to align outside face to gridline.
