Default Symbolic lines showed on all levels when cutting a door family

    Hey.

First of all i created a door family. It's works that way i have a door, with a window above that goes to the level above. I wan't my plan swing lines to only show on the first floor plan, but it shows on the next level's plan aswell.

Is there a trick to this? or should i look into dividing it into two families?

This is my first post, hope its the right place to ask the question - otherwise please correct me.

    Regards
    Mikkel

Is the 2nd floor view cut plane intersecting the door/window family? If not, there should be a visibility parameter you can check for your symbolic lines to only show those lines when the family is cut by a view's cut plane.

If you could share the family we could be of more help.

Hey Patricks, thanks for the reply. It's appreciated.

Here is the file, i tried controlling the symbolic lines with visibility graphics on every 2nd floor in the project, but sometimes the family overlaps (a door has its base on every lvl), which will turn my swing projection lines off in the floor plans where i also wan't them shown.

So actually i have a masking region figuring on the door family, on the 2nd level were the cutplane intersects with the window.

I also tried with a nested window, inside the door family.

The cut plane is intersecting the door family.

I hope you understand, otherwise i could try and make a little sketch for you.

    Thanks, Mikkel.

    Mikkel,

I had a similar problem. Although not a solution is a good work around.

I created a new object style in the family for a new symbolic line. I created the door swings using this new object style. Once loaded into your project this assures that only the relevant swings are of that object style and can then be turned off in the view (2nd Floor in your case) Just go to the visibility/graphics, and doors, and untick the new object style you created.

This does need doing in every view for this level which is a pain sometimes. Especially when creating a new view, and forgetting to turn the object style off.

Much better than using masking regions.

    Hope this helps for now.

    Regards,

    Alex

    Hey Alex,

I tried using that workaround, the problem with that solution is that i have one of my door families based on every level - which means i can't cut the object styles out - because then i won't show the swing projection lines in the views where i actually cut the door and not the nested window above.

I can't figure out any other solution than the masking regions, not a very adaptive soluition which bothers me.
