    I wonder if there is a way to make excel calculate the area of a Polyline ??

    Why use excel when AutoCAD can do that for you.

    If you need the area of a Polyline in excel have AutoCAD calculate and then export it to excel.

    If the polyline were an AEC object then you could attach property set defs to it & then create a schedule for it. Once the schedule is in the dwg, you can export the schedule to excel in several different formats.

    Even if it is just a plain old AutoCAD polyline, you can attach object-based Property Sets that include an automatic property for the area. You can schedule this and export to Excel, as other have noted, if needed.
