Question AutoCAD Lag or short term lock up

    Hi Everyone,

One of the guys in my office is having an issue in AutoCAD. When he completes an action his system lock ups for a few seconds (maybe 30 sec.). For instance when hes copying things it runs fine until he hits enter and completes the operation, then it pauses. A few seconds doesn't like a big deal but it is annoying and kills the rythem.

It is only when he's in a certain file. It's when he uses commands like copy, mirror, & move, but seams fine when erasing or drawing new line work or shapes.

We tried purging and the file size is only 1.48mb. It doesn't seam to matter if he's copying a little or a lot the pause seams to be about the same.

Any ideas what I can try to resolve this issue?

Thank for any help you can provide,

    Joe

There SEEMS to be so many possibilities.

    Which version of acad?
    What operating system?
Is the file stored on a server?
    PC specs?
    Server specs?

Have a look at this article but note that Filemon doesn't work under Vista or Win_7 - substitute Process Monitor.

Are you using a sheetset manager across the WAN with this particular file? I have had a similar problem, but it was due to some of the hardware we use to communicate between offices.

    Try this:
    1) OSmode=191
    2) Zoom in before drawing a line
    3) Now pick a point and drawing a line
    Would this is better?
The reason I think in this way is that your drawing is too massive - too many objects in tiny place, perhaps there are 2D & 3D objects on that drawing.

Open a new empty drawing, insert this problem file and explode.
    Save, close, reopen.
    Any changes?

If not, can you post this particular drawing?
