    Default Quickly Activate/Deactivate Views

Here is something I set up for myself.

I noticed I was spending a lot of time going to a view, right clicking, going to Activate View, and then again when I wanted to deactivate a view.

I went into my keyboard shortcuts and assigned the letter combination 'av' to activate view, and 'dv' to deactivate view.

My left hand is already resting on the keyboard and if you take a close look, the keys are easily within reach of the one hand. Pinky and pointer for 'av' and middle and pointer for 'dv'. It's become a regular part of my workflow now, and I'm moving through the drawings and views a lot faster.

Someone else may have posted this already, but I've never actually run across it, so I thought I would pass it on. I'd find it hard to believe that I am the first to think of this.

It's a toggle so it can be the same shortcut - I use VV for both

I use VD for both, since a view can never be both active and inactive at the same time.

Been doing this for several years now and I NEVER right-click to activate/deactivate views anymore. VD is an easy combination for your index and middle finger to tap in quick succession.

I have several other key combinations in close proximity, such as BF for Bring to Front, and then FB (the opposite) for Send to Back. I just recently set that one up and it's also a nice time saver.

    DC for Detail Component
    CS for Create Similar
    SC for Snap to Center
    DD for Dimension
    AA for Align

All those are right there at the lower left for quick access with my index and middle fingers only.

Here is a litt doc I put together for my office Tips and Tricks (AV/DV included, but I like the toggle idea and using just one like VV). On another note, don't be afraid to make changes that make you a more efficient user. Test it out, if it doesn't work, reset it to the default or try something else. I know as Revit manager, this might be opening a can of worms for the over-customizers, but just export out a default and you can always import it back in if it gets out of hand.

Remember that Revit allows commands to have multiple shortcuts, so always encourage your users to add their own without messing with what your install includes. So if you have firm-wide standard shortcuts, they will still be consistent from machine to machine but then each user can add their own as desired.

@Devin_82, I get an error message when I try to open or download the file in your post: "The file is damaged and could not be repaired." COuld you re-post?

remember that it is faster to press one key twice, than press 2 keys,
so I have customised a few high-use shortcuts like AA to activate view, MM to move etc.

However, I don't understand how to use AA as a toggle for both activating and deactivating. (I use DD to deactivate. Typing AA once already activated just gave an error "ding dong" sound, and trying to edit the shortcut keys won't allow re-using a combination already used for another command)

Look more carefully at the "Duplicate Shortcut" dialog box. It says "Duplicates are allowed...." Just hit OK, and it will accept the duplicate. I have been using "AA" for both for years.
