Thread: Zoom problems

    Default Zoom problems

I have to say that I'm really hating 2011 because what were simple basic tasks in older versions now seem very difficult.

I'm currently having problems with zoom extents and zoom window and zoom scale. Zoom extents gives me something other than extents in model space and in paper space, my drawing disappears. With zoom scale, no matter what ?xp I use, I get the same scale in my viewport.

Is this something to do with annotation scaling?

    Steve.

Bigger or smaller? If bigger, you might have objects that you are not aware of.

    Possibly the same problem.

    Are the viewports locked?

Without typing "nXP", turn on the "properties" dialog and check the vport settings.
This may show you more info.

And you may also need to check if this problem happens to all drawings opened in the same machine.

Could you upload a sample drawing with the problem if all the seggustions do not work for you.

Thanks for the replies. The viewport doesn't appear to be locked. Two other people in my office have the same problem on their pcs.

Yesterday when I was zooming extents in model space it was zooming to an area smaller than the true extents. Interestingly, today, it does zoom to true extents. In paper space, zoom extents or zoom window resulted in the drawing disappearing completely.

The big problem is zoom scale though ...

That can be a display driver problem but the other problems aren't.

Set the viewport property "Custom scale" to 0 and try to zoom scale again.

    No.
    Custom Scale /= "0" but "1".

    To Steve.
Could you upload a sample drawing with that problem?
You may remove any objects and the title block before uploading.
Remain the viewport on the sample drawing.

This is strange... I was going to upload the drawing but all the zoom functions appear to work as they should.

I started again from scratch and produced the same drawing and all the zoom functions malfunctioned again just as I reported.

I saved the drawing, closed Autocad and then reopened the drawing. Now it all works perfectly again.

I now have a 'workaround' for the problem, but absolutely no idea what is causing it.

    Steve.
