    Unhappy Draw order "unknown command"

    Hello all,

    I am running Windows 7 64Bit with Autocad 2011 64Bit as well.

I have recently run into a problem with my draw order while drafting.

Chosing the command line, or choosing the tab/button with regards to draw order are both resulting in the same error. _front Unknown command "FRONT" (or which ever other order I choose). They all come up with the same error message in my text line at the bottom of the screen.

I have found some tip on how to resolve this issue online, but nothing have found their way o fix the problem once and for all.

Audit, and software updating have both resulted in nothing at all.

I am trying not to have to re-install or repair my install of Autocad. Both are going to take more time then I can afford while in the office working.

Any assistance and help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance,

    David

Do the files "acdorder.arx" and "acdorderRes.dll" exist in your acad installation folder?

If not, a repair should fix it.

A repair should only take ±10 minutes.
However, have you edited the support file search paths any?
If you type in the command "._DRAWORDER" at the command line, does it work?
If so, then it sounds like you are missing the file "Acad2011doc.lsp", which is where the "ai_draworder" command (which is what the menu calls) is located.
If this is all true so far, paste this at the command line:
    (startapp "notepad" (findfile "Acad2011doc.lsp"))

    What do you get?

when pasting in that command, 'nil' appeared.

    What does that mean?

Also note: I am able to go to the command line and change the order of items like you listed in step 1.

Just to make sure, paste in the last part shown in blue [i.e.: (findfile "Acad2011doc.lsp") ]
If you still get nil, then your system cannot find this file - either because your support file search paths are messed up or because the file is missing.

Open Windows Explorer and go to %programfiles%\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2011\Support and look for a file named "acad2011doc.lsp"
(Note that you may not see this directory, this file, or the file extensions, depending on how your system is set up. Microsoft likes to hide things.)

Then you shouldn't have to worry about the missing .ARX files as earlier mentioned. The function that the menu is calling is located in the missing "acad2011doc.lsp" file.

ok, so I located that file in the support folder. I went back into file locations in autocad options. Navigated to the support folder from there and saved it. My company uses a number of different support folders and it seems in a number of different locations. It WAS messed up.

I thank you all for your help with my problem.

my draw order is working once again!!

    thanks !

No problem. Hang around and return the favor to someone else someday.
