    Default Cloud Rendering help

    Hey All,

I am trying to use the cloud to render some interior shots, but I'm not liking the quality of the images. I think i have figured out why the images look like they're sepia tone (linked light fixtures are set to 3200K color). But I can't seem to get the Anti-aliasing to a higher level. I take it that the cloud doesn't allow for using a 'Custom' rendering settings from the view itself. So, is there anything I can do to make my cloud renderings look better for anti-aliasing? I'll need to lean on the engineers to change their light colors next week too.

    Thanks,
    Jeff S.

    Hey Scott,

Thanks for the suggestion. When I try to re-render these views, the cloud fails to complete the rendering. Not sure why it fails, but the FAQ tells me to re-upload the file from Revit to re-render. Any other suggestions?

I actually haven't used the cloud rendering in months since it never worked well for me. But I was always able to change the environment and settings and re-render. I'll try one and see what I can find out.

I did just check and to the right of your images is the actions pull down, you chose re-render and adjust the settings.

I am a little disappointed by cloud-rendering. The renderings seem very simplistic. And as far as I can tell, there aren't a lot of settings that can be adjusted during the re-render:

I've tried all of the "Environment" settings, and aside from some color variations, the change is minimal (except for "seaport," which seems to add a blurry crane to the background of my rendering). The environmental settings also seem to have eliminated my shadows.

From left to right in the below thumbnails, the Environment settings were: seaport, riverbank, boardwalk, crossroads, and field:

I don't really get what the Environment settings are supposed to do. I could use photoshop for this & have more control.

But maybe I am missing something.

So, now when I go to render to the cloud I can't see my "Finished Rendering". I can see the file name, but there are no images below it. When I look at the sort button, it says there are images to view. But for the life of me, I can't get them to show up. I've tried to delete the images several times, but they seem stuck in cyberspace.

    Scott,

I still can't get any other options for re-rendering my images, than the original settings, and it usually fails anyways.

Did you try clicking the little "show" button with the pic next to it?

By the way, I have not been successful making good renderings with the cloud. So I'm not saying its a good thing. Hopefully they will make it much more valuable in the future.

I still think the renderings are too simplistic, but I did find additional re-render settings (specifically, "Exposure") since I posted the above. The same exposure settings are available on the cloud as in Revit, but the output is different. Also, it looks like you need to re-render the image in order to use them.

For example, in the last rendering, I used the following settings on both the cloud and Revit:

    Exposure Value: 13
    Highlights: 0
    Midtones: 1
    Shadows: 0.2
    Saturation: 1
    White Point: 6500

.... and I got very different results:

To use Revit's exposure settings, select "Native" from the "Exposure" option on the Render in Cloud dialog:

I think I'm going to go native.
