Default 2012 seems buggy as all heck

I thought the even number versions were supposed to be the good ones?

My latest adventure with AutoCAD 2012 Vanilla is that I use Dynamic Input and have my Command Line turned off... well every 2nd time I open AutoCAD the Command Line is turned back on.

    Any ideas?

This on top of the Heidi Driver crashes have not really given me the warm fuzzy for 2012.

I havent had any of those issues, have you tried repair installation, or complete reinstall?

I've used 2006 -> 2009 ->2011, and it looks like I'm getting 2012 (client driven). All of which have performed as expected.

Have you considered your default / saved workspace?

Turns out AMD ATI doesn't play well with Windows & and AutoCAD. I downloaded latest drivers this week and the crashes have almost gone away.

Just as a side note though, ATI's Catalyst Control Center doesn't open in Windows 7 32 Bit. I miss my NVidia Cards.

Yup. I learned this one the hard way too. Stay away from ATI, stick with NVidia and you'll be a happier Cadguy.

Interesting, it seems there's a difference of opinion.

Depends on use. For under $300.00 and not doing a ton of 3D NVidia Cards are well worth the investment especially since NVidia creates drivers especially for AutoCAD

Also if you go to Autodesk's Certified Hardware page NVidia seems to have the most certified cards available compared to ATI

    YMMV
I've invariably had fewer problems with ATI/AMD display adapters than I've had with NVidia. And personally, since WinXP was out I've never seen a real benefit to special Acad drivers -- they seem to be just one more opportunity to introduce bugs and dilute the qa/qc testing.

    more/=better

Of course the real problem that list is the paucity of vendors. Consolidation in the video card biz has trashed your real choices and real competition between vendors, give us only a choice of A or B, neither of which fundamentally cares about our area to excel in either 2d or 3d graphics display.
