visibility of sprinklers in Arch model linking MEP model

I'm having some trouble troubleshooting a visibility/graphics problem with an architectural model where the MEP model is linked in. I'm the MEP guy, but the Architects think it has something to do with our sprinklers. I'm pretty sure it has to do with their view, but I just don't know what exactly.

When I set up an RCP in the MEP model it shows the pipe and the sprinkler (both below the ceiling), and I can adjust the detail level overides to show the pipe as a single or double line and the sprinkler as a symbol or the way it looks looking up at the ceiling. However when I go into their Arch model I can't get the sprinklers to show up as a symbol: setting the detail level to "medium" either by overriding it for sprinklers, for the entire MEP model, or for everything in the view, doesn't have the same effect as it does in the MEP model, and the sprinkler symbol does not show up.

Any ideas?

It had nothing to do with linking the MEP in to the Arch. "Generic Annotations" was turned off in the arch view.
