Default Can I get by on this laptop for Revit 2012?

I am an architect who will be taking Revit classes soon. I'd like to use my current laptop (and not invest in a new computer since I have little/no income) but have my doubts about whether it will adequately run Revit 2012. I expect that my models will be pretty simple since I am just learning the program and will likely be house-like models. If I end up working on larger models eventually I expect that will be at an office that has the proper hardware.

    IBM ThinkPad T60p, 2.0 GHz Core2Duo T7200 (i.e. dual-core), 4Gb RAM (only 3Mb recognized in XP), 160Gb/7200rpm HDD, 256Mb FireGL5200 (DirectX 9.0, OpenGL 2.0), XP Pro w/SP3.

Can I get by with this system for learning Revit 2012?

    Thanks in advance.

Definitely at the bare minimum to run Revit...

You can download the demo and see for yourself it will run or not...If you do any renderings more than likely you won't be able to save them as there isn't enough ram, and XP doesn't manage it very well anyway.

Probably good enough to learn....but I'd make sure you have nothing else running at the same time as that memory is very valuable to make Revit work right. HTH

It's kind of like asking "Can I run a marathon in sandals?"

You can, but it will make you hate marathons.

If you really care about Revit get a 2000$+ Dell Precision or Lenovo W workstation
