Hi,
Not that it will help you do what you want, but to see that others indeed feel your pain - check this out:

Try this, make the walls in the link transparent thru VG.

Lack of control over Draw Oder is a massive shortcoming in Revit. There is really nothing straightforward you can do to make it look and work exactly like it should. You have to play around (exhaustively sometimes) with halftone/transparency settings, colors, detail levels, etc. to get it anywhere near acceptable.
I've had (some) luck with changing the color of the lines in the linked model to match the color of the lines in the main model (I use a black screen and colors - not all black lines on white). Others have said to make two views, one with the link in and one without, and then stack them perfectly on the sheet - one on top of the other. But then you have to either draw from the sheet view or be sure to turn off the link in the "top view" if you use the underlay for reference while you work. I've found nothing that looks RIGHT, that isn't excessively time consuming.
For the most part, all the solutions are pathetic workarounds to what should be a simple fix on Autodesk's end. I see from the link to the other forum that it supposedly has their attention finally. I'd like to think it will be resolved soon, but I frequently research problems in Revit and see posts from others "hoping it gets fixed soon"....and then you look at the date and realize that was 7 versions ago and you still have the same problems today.....
In Revit 2012 you have a feature to set your Linked model to underlay, which set it to back ground.

True, and I was SUPER excited when I discovered it....for about 30 seconds until I further discovered that it doesn't work like it says it does. In the attached pic, the gray lines are my linked model, and the colored lines are the main model.
I'm currently in discussion with Autodesk's Revit team about this issue (and have discovered some nuances about it along the way). I'll post another update when/if we get it sorted out.
yah. room names still obscure model elements linework. its an improvement but still needs some work.
