    Default Un-Nest a Family?

I have a overhead door family that is just nesting in the panels and I want to Un-Nest the panels so that everything is in just one family. How do I un-nest them?

    Thanks
    Billy

You might want to leave the panels nested because they are probably in an array of some sort. You're not going to be able to array geometry created within the same family. If you still want to remove them, then in the project/family browser, expand the 'families' section, and sub groups until you find said nested panels. Select the family name, right click & delete.

I don't mind getting the array warning. I might just do a hatch and not array the panels just to make the family easier. If we are going to do any renderings then I will want the panels with the fancy notches in the panels.

    Thanks

You could leave the panels in the OH Door family, and assign a 'Family Type' parameter to them. That why when you want to have a cool panel vs. a plane one, you could just switch them out in your project. All panels in the array will be under control of the same 'Family Type' parameter. So, if you're looking for one of the panels to be different in the OH Door, it can't be part of that array.

    Cheers,
    Jeff S.
