Globally remove mtext formatting

I have drawings that have had the text style changed to a different font. Issue is that some of the mtext has character formatting that is the old font. Is there a way that I can change/remove the formatting globally? I do not want to remove the formatting individually.

I used the stripmtext lisp as well. Very useful. Thanks to Steve Doman and Joe Burke who came up with this. I was looking at a lot of work to remove formatting from 100+ mleaders.

Has anyone had the chance to update this to any newer Auotcad Versions. I am running 2017 and I can't this to strip anything. Unless theres a system setting that I have set wrong.
