    Angry Section changes fatal error

When trying to reduce a section view size [from 4 floors to 1 floor] or move any elements around
in a section, I receive a fatal error [Revit 2011]. The error report is as follows:

    Problem signature:

I am using a Windows 7, 64 bit OS and our central file size is fast approaching 100Mg.
    Will someone please help.

    Thanks

I'm going to ask a few obvious questions.
Does this happen on EVERYONES machine that tries it, or just yours?
    Have you tried AUDIT?
How much space is on your hard drive? How big is your hard drive?
    Ram?
Current video card driver, Adesk authorized?

You might need to file an Adesk support on this issue?

Angry Re: Section changes fatal error

I have over 400gig of free hard drive space, operating with 8G of RAM, with a AMD
Phenom II X6 1100T, 3.30Ghz processor. It is happening on other machines within our
office. The project has 4 link files [2 architectural, 1 structural and our MEP].

I am trying to get around by creating a section each time i need one, instead of moving one
dedicated section around. If i try to alter the section, in anyway, Revit crashes.

Maybe one of the other files have been corrupted? Causing our section problems?

Looks like your PC can handle Revit.
You never know, unless you do alot of testing. Rename a link so it doesn't load, try the section, repeat through all links. Remove all links and try the section. Try all different section types. Somehow you'll be able to narrow it down.

If your on subscription you can send the file or a log file to Adesk support. I would at least try that route along with the testing.

    Good luck.

Pdellarte you didn't mention if you tried to AUDIT the files or not. I'd recommend opening each file...links first...and clicking the AUDIT button in the Open dialog box. Just for kicks, you might want to PURGE the files as well.

Red face Re: Section changes fatal error

We painstakingly found the culprit to this crash - it was the structural link itself.
Dr. John [our IT manager] laboriously dissected the journal files of the crash
and saw that the problem element number given [on page 52 of the journal] was #606522.
Doing a search within our MEP model of this number resulted in the entire structural
link showing as the "bad" element. I have unloaded the structural link, within our model,
and so far [fingers crossed] things are again running OK.

Running an audit in the structural model gives the warning "Possible Model Instability".
The structural engineer is now aware and looking into his problem, as he was having
    similar crashes.
