    Question Layer control with Xrefs?

Hi, with Autocad LT 2010/2011 can you keep xref layers in the drawings but remove them from the later manager ? so you don’t see the xref layers in the layer manager ?

i know this sounds odd but, its driving people in the office crazy looking at drawings with xrefs in them and seeing 80+ layers in the cad file..

    many thanks !

In the layer properties manager, set the "Xref" layer properties filter current and check the "Invert filter" box.

[I'm assuming it will work in LT.]

One thing to note is, when you reopen the drawing it will have forgetten the "invert filter" selection and just show the xref layers. If anybody knows how to save the tick box I would dearly like to know.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the tip - so i guess i have to create some sort of layer property filter ? - only it doesnt seem to work.. When I check the `invert` selection box it doesnt seem to do anything ? it may be different in full version .. Ive attched a screen grab of my layers with the filter on..

Also when i create the filter and choose status it create this bizzarre error message - see attched. Whats all that about, maybe i`m doing something wrong..

Also, what does `layer status` mean is that something to with if its an xref in the drawing or just a normal `live` layer ?

    Thanks again chaps !!

You can create a layer properties filter - the value should be ~*|*

Your display looks the same as mine in full acad, so that's okay.
    "Status" means locked/unlocked, frozen/thawed, on/off.
The error message - I don't know, I've not seen one like that.
