    Default Converting Multiple Block Files

    Hello AUGI Members,

Our company is in the process of migrating to AutoCAD 2012 running on a 64bit Windows 7 environment. I am trying to update thousands of our existing bock drawing files from AutoCAD 2009 to 2012 and was using one of my VBA scripts that allows me to open a folder of drawings (+/- 200 drawings) and performs a purge and save before closing each file.

I start the process and while it is running move to another workstation to do some other work. What I have noticed is that the script stops working, for some unexplained reason, after approximately 70 to 100 drawings. I must then kill the VBA process to free up the workstation which in most case requires me to also kill AutoCAD.

Please note that in our old configuration (AutoCAD 2009 running on a 32bit Windows XP environment) the script runs OK and processes al the files in the folder....!!

Has anyone experienced this type of difficulty....?? Is there a better way to accomplish this task....??

    Your assistance will be appreciated....!!

    Best Regards,
    Vince

I know this is not what you asked...but before going down this road.... I'm just wondering why you need to convert these drawings? Is it just for the purge or do you really need these to be in 2010 DWG format for some reason.

These drawing files are block files that willl be inserted over and over into our new AutoCAD 2012 drawing files. I thought it would be a good to have all the components of our drawings (including blocks and Xrefs) and the new AutoCAD 2012 level.

There shouldn't be any issue inserting drawings saved as older versions. We still have a lot of blocks in older versions (even some R13/R14 format) that we use.

If you really want to continue, have you looked into using ScriptPro ?
